Talk on "Harnessing electro-optic correlations in an efficient mechanical converter"

by Andrew Patrick Higginbotham; IST Austria

I will present experimental results on a microwave-mechanical-optical converter from my time at JILA, including a study of noise-correlations generated by the converter.

Afterwards, I will discuss a planned electromechanics experiment at IST to study the coupling of a silicon nitride resonator to an array of Josephson junctions. As the junctions are tuned through a superconductor-insulator quantum phase transition, we expect a transition from a standard optomechanical to a “glassy” interaction, which will give us access to new observables in this important model system.
