University Rector Sebastian Schütze and Professor Philip Walther welcomed Austrian Federal Ministers Peter Hanke and Eva-Maria Holzleitner to the Faculty of Physics at the University of Vienna. During their visit, the ministers gained exclusive insights into the pioneering work of the Quantum Optics, Quantum Nanophysics and Quantum Information group.
The delegation was particularly impressed by the model of the space quantum processor, as Professor Walther and his team explained the mission’s goals and shared their first scientific findings. The Walther Group has developed the world’s first space-qualified quantum computer that can withstand the extreme conditions of a space mission while consuming minimal energy — and they achieved this in record time.
